Brock Wilks

Funeral Director/Owner

Brock started his funeral service career in 2002 at a local area funeral home. He obtained his degree in Mortuary Science from Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, Colorado in 2004. He now looks forward to many years of dedicated loyal service to the bereaved here in his hometown of Chubbuck, Pocatello and the surrounding area.

Brock is a lifelong resident of Pocatello. He was raised and attended schools in Pocatello, graduating from Highland High School and completing his undergraduate work at Idaho State University.

Brock and his wife Laci have six children. The Wilks family loves living in an area that affords them with the opportunity to experience the beautiful outdoors. They love to spend as much time as they can camping in the mountains. They also love to travel and take road trips.

Dan Adams

Dan started his funeral service career in 2014 at a fuenral home in Texas. He graduated with his degree in Mortuary Science from the Dallas Insititute of Funeral Service and served fthe families of North Texas for six years before moving to Idaho to be closer to his children and grandchildren.

Dan enjoyed a nineteen-year career in wireless telecom before coming to funeral service. Dan's grandfather owned a funeral home in Arizona where he would spend the summers of his youth "helping". Seeing how his grandfather cared for his community and served each family with compassion planted the seeds that would eventually lead Dan to funeral service.

Dan and his wife Dee are blessed with two children and three grandchildren all of whom live in Pocatello. Family gatherings and spoling grandkids are Dan's favorite pastimes, but he also enjoyes woodworking, fishing, hunting and just being "in the woods". Dan looks forward to serving the families of southeast Idaho for many years to come.

Taylor Ivie

Taylor was born and raised in Mackay, Idaho and graduated from Mackay High School before pursuing a degree in Business from Idaho State University. While in school she began her career in funeral service working at a funeral home in 2016.

Taylor earned her degree in Mortuary Science from Des Moines Area Community College in 2020. Taylor feels honored to serve families and their loved ones in their time of need and looks forward to the opportunity to serve her community.

In her free time, Taylor enjoys traveling, playing the piano, reading, and spending time with her family.

Jared Wilks

Jared was born and raised in South Eastern Idaho, graduating from Highland High school and attending Idaho State University where he competed his Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology. Jared has worked both in the information/technology industry and in Real Estate sales.

Jared and his wife have four children and enjoy spending time in nature, camping, hiking and trail riding. They have recently discovered a love of travel but also very much enjoy spending time together at their home in the canyon near Pocatello where they garden and raise animals.

Deanna Raschke

Deanna was born in the small town of Moore, Idaho. There she was raised along with her three sisters. She attended schools in Moore and Arco, Idaho, graduated from Butte County High School in 1974. She then moved to Pocatello in 1979. In 1994 Deanna married the love of her life, Richard Williams. They met while she was working at a bank. Richard wanted to thank her for her kindness and so asked what he could do for her, she off handedly said, “Send me flowers.” They spent 18 years together until Richard passed away in 2012 after being diagnosed with cancer.

Deanna spent 35 years in the banking industry, working for Idaho Bank & Trust, Key Bank and D.L. Evans Bank. With a widely known reputation for kindness and caring, she decided to make a career change and began working at Wilks Funeral Home in 2015.

Deanna enjoys reading in her spare time. She loves anything to do with family and spending time with good friends. Deanna looks forward to many years of kindly serving those who have lost loved ones.

Morris Kinghorn

Morris Kinghorn is a Funeral Assistant at Colonial Funeral Home. He was born in Rigby, ID and has lived in Pocatello since 1942. He was educated in Pocatello and attended Idaho State College.

Morris worked for 44 years in the credit industry as a collector, loan officer and in administration. He retired in 2000.

He has been married to Glenna Kramer Kinghorn since 1974 and enjoys spending time with her and his three children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoys the outdoors, especially fishing.

Glenna Kinghorn

Glenna Kinghorn is a Funeral Assistant at Colonial Funeral Home. She was born in American Falls, ID and has lived in Pocatello since 1947. She was educated in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School.

She and Morris Kinghorn married in 1974. Between them, they have 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She worked in the insurance industry for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Glenna enjoys making quilts, scrapbooking, and handy work such as crocheting. She also enjoys fishing and traveling.

Berniece Jackson

Berniece is a longtime Pocatello resident. Orginally from Grace, Idaho, Berniece moved to Pocatello to attend Grimms School of Business. After graduation she obtained a job at the Allis Chalmers Tractor dealership. It was there that she met the love of her life, Verlon Jackson.

They were married in 1953 and together they farmed the Jackson Family Farm for over 35 years in the Tyhee area; harvesting sugar beets, hay and cattle. After retirement Verlon & Berniece found a rewarding opportunity working as Funeral Assistants. They spent over 20 years working together serving the community in that capacity, and it has been the most rewarding experience of their lives.

After 62 years by each other's side, Verlon passed away in January of 2016. Although still adjusting to her new life without her sweetheart, Berniece still enjoys serving the bereaved in her community as a funeral assistant. She also enjoys going on walks and keeping herself busy at home with chores.

Leon Manning

Leon is the Co-Founder of Colonial Funeral Home. Leon Manning enjoyed serving the Pocatello community since the early 1950′s. Leon treasured the relationships he established over the last 55 years in funeral service. He felt a kinship to every family, assisting them through their personal loss. Leon and son-in-law, Jared Clinger, became business partners when they co-founded Colonial Funeral Home in October of 1992. Leon supported and mentored the staff and appreciated the close contacts made after a lifetime of helping people.

Leon and his wife Gwen loved to visit their children and grandchildren.

Leon passed away on June 15th, 2014 and Gwen passed away on October 21, 2014.

Jared Clinger

Jared is the Co-Founder of Colonial Funeral Home. He attended and graduated from Mt. Hood Community College in funeral service in 1991. In 1992, Jared and Leon fouded the funeral home. Jared thoroughly enjoys the relationship with his father-in-law, mentor, and friend, Leon. “I feel a deep gratitude toward Leon, our staff, and especially our client families for our friendships and for the lessons in life we learn together. I have been blessed to witness first hand the love, compassion, courage, and healing associated with the loss of a loved one.”

Jared grew up on a family farm in American Falls, Idaho. He played basketball for Ricks College and earned an Associates Degree. After returning from a two year mission for his church in Brazil, he married Michelle Manning and soon they became a family with five sons: Austin, Mason, Dane, Cody, and Marshall. Jared, Michelle, and family are active in Century High School sports and their church.

David & Cindy Bowen

David Bowen was born on the 4th of July and was raised on a farm in Rexburg, Idaho. He was a masonry contractor for more than 40 years and owner of Bowen Masonry. He also spent 32 years as an Idaho High School Basketball Official. The past 7 seven years he worked as a Hospice Chaplain. Oh, how he loves serving as a Chaplain!

David and Cindy met at Ricks College (now known as BYUI) and dated for 3 weeks before David proposed to Cindy. They married 9 months later in the Los Angeles Temple. Together David and Cindy have been married and sung together for more than 45 years and have presented Music Firesides for over 25 years. They have 6 children (4 boys and 2 girls) and 27 wonderful grandchildren.

Cindy owns TaVaci School of Performing Arts which has been a part of her life for over 35 years. She is also the co-founder of TaVaci Inc. where she has been able to share her gift of music with thousands of children.

Rebecca Seedall

Rebecca is a native of Southeastern Idaho and graduated from Bonneville High School. She, and her husband Jay, have lived in several states eventually settling in Pocatello in 2008. They love living in Bannock County and being close to family. Rebecca and Jay have five amazing children, three incredible in-laws and four adorable grandchildren.

Rebecca loves to spend time doing home renovations, reading, fly fishing with her husband, and most importantly spending time outdoors with her family.

Rebecca joined Wilks Funeral Home as the Financial Manager in early 2021. She has multiple years of experience in managing finances for a small family business. Rebecca’s goal is to focus on the business finances which will allow Funeral Directors to focus on their client’s needs.

Colby Seedall

Colby Seedall, is a native to Southeast Idaho.  Graduating from Highland High School in 2018.   Colby served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Independence, Missouri.    He and wife Makayla were married in June of 2020.   They have been traveling and living in Salt Lake City the past year but have come back to Pocatello to start their careers.   Although no children yet, Colby and Makayla love to spend time with their dog Lincoln.

Colby enjoys spending his free time in Island park.  Fly fishing is his favorite and he seldom passes up any chance that comes along to go.   When fishing isn’t an option, Colby enjoys spending time with his wife, doing physical exercise and backpacking.

Colby started working with Wilks Funeral Home doing maintenance on the grounds and polishing the fleet in 2016.  He worked through high school with Wilks Funeral Home.  Today, he is a successful licensed apprentice.  Colby is great to assist funeral directors with everyday items to better serve the families in our community. 

Gordon & Tamra Wilks

Gordon and Tamra Wilks are both long time residents of the Pocatello area. Gordon was born in Bloomington, Idaho, Tamra in Pocatello. They were both educated in the Pocatello School System, and Gordon graduated from Idaho State University in 1968. Gordon and Tamra raised and educated 6 children in Pocatello. All have attended Idaho State University.

Gordon served aboard the guided missle destroyer PARSONS in the South China Sea and Gulf of Tonkin during the Viet Nam era. Gordon was discharged from the navy with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Gordon has been the Broker/Owner of Gate City Real Estate Company, since 1982, and has been active in local youth programs, Boy Scouts of America, Rotary, and Junior Achievement. Tamra has been heavily involved in causes involving young women issues.

Gordon and Tamra are principals in Wilks Funeral Home, LLC, and enjoy their opportunity to further serve their community in this important endeavor.

J.O. Cotant

J.O. is a Funeral Assistant for Colonial Funeral Home and has been working with the staff and families we serve for almost 10 years. Prior to coming to our funeral home, J.O. was a building contractor, involved in farming and ranching, and also spent 10 years as the Bannock County Commissioner.

J.O. is married to Kathy Cotant. They have 4 grown boys, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. The Cotants reside in Tyhee.

Caleb Burke

Caleb was born in Pocatello. Growing up in Pocatello, and eventually moving to Moreland, he graduated from Snake River High School in 2001. He is active in his church and is always willing to help in any way he can. Caleb served a full-time mission for his church in Nashville, Tennessee, and went on to complete a local service mission in Pocatello.

Caleb started his career in funeral service in 2004 at a local funeral home. He obtained his degree in Mortuary Science from Mt. Hood Community College, dedicating himself to the bereaved and their loved ones. He honors and strives in all aspects of his life to live up to the trust others place in him; recognizing that trust is a truly sacred gift.

Caleb and his wife Jexi are parents to five amazing children. The Burkes love everything outdoors! They particularly enjoy family camping, fishing and hiking trips. They love going to sporting events and spending time in Island Park.

Kari May

Kari May has been with Wilks Funeral Home since 2009. Kari was born and raised in Southeast Idaho where she graduated from Marsh Valley High School. After graduation, Kari went on to earn her life and health insurance license and also attended Idaho State University majoring in public health. Kari then served a mission for her church to Santiago, Chile. Upon returning from her mission, she continued her education and graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in health education and a minor in Spanish.

Kari lives in Chubbuck with her husband, Kurt and their five children. She enjoys reading, jogging, softball, cycling, cooking, camping and anything that is family oriented. Kari has enjoyed serving the people in our community with their funeral planning for the past 8 years and looks forward to many more years of service.

Stephanie Shutes

Stephanie grew up in Blackfoot, Idaho and graduated from Blackfoot High School.  After graduation, she attended Ricks College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Sports Medicine.  It was while attending Idaho State University that she met her husband.  They were engaged just 3 weeks later and married later that year. 

 Stephanie and her husband have four daughters, that they love dearly.  She enjoys camping, quilting, and anything family oriented.  She had been employed in the legal field for most of her adult life, and is looking forward to serving the people in the community while working at Wilks Funeral Home.

Brad joined the staff in 2007. He has been in the funeral industry since 1987 and graduated from Cypress Community College in California in the field of Mortuary Science. He was recognized as being on the Dean's Honor Roll. He spent 10 years working in the Sacramento, California, area and 4 years in Kallispell, Montana. Brad is excited to be back in Pocatello.

He was born and raised in Preston and Pocatello. He is married to Kathy (Beery) and they have two children, a daughter, Shayla (Nathan) and their 3 children and a son, Preston. He is active in his church and served a two year mission in St. Louis, Missouri and Nauvoo, Illinois. He enjoys all out door activities.

JoEllen Hyde

JoEllen Hyde is the Office Manager/Bookkeeper and Funeral Assistant for Colonial Funeral Home.

JoEllen was born and raised in Pocatello. She attended area schools, graduating from ISU with a degree in Nursing and Dental Assisting. She has spent a total of 20 years in the dental field and has now joined our Colonial staff. She is married to Richard Hyde, and they have four children in their blended family.

She enjoys photography, crafting, outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She has a love for people and is happy to serve the community by helping families care for their loved ones.

Michael & Velma Jones

Michael and Velma were born and raised in Preston and Weston, Idaho. Although they grew up just 3 miles from each other, they never met until after Michael returned from serving a mission in Bolivia, South America for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Michael and Velma dated for three and a half weeks before becoming engaged. Three months later, they were married in the Ogden Temple. They have 4 wonderful creative children and 11 grandchildren.

Michael is a graduate of Utah State University with a major in Business and Public Relations. His career with the Quick Lube industry moved the family to Utah, California, and Oregon. Upon his retirement in 2020, the couple made their final move and returned back to their roots in Idaho to be closer to their treasured family. Velma worked as a bookkeeper for 23 years. She also volunteered as a girl’s camp staff member for 25 years. She taught youth in early morning seminary for 9 years.

Michael and Velma are often seen taking walks together. Sometimes they go wherever the path takes them. While on those walks, they always look for and enjoy the beauties in their surroundings. Something unique about them is that Michael has a twin sister, Velma has a twin sister, and their only son has a twin sister.

Kathy Cotant

Kathy is a Funeral Assistant for Colonial Funeral Home and has been working with us for almost 10 years. Prior to coming to the funeral home, she worked at The Pocatello Dental Group for almost 20 years.

Kathy is married to J.O. Cotant and is a mother of 4 boys. They also have 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Kathy has lived in Bannock County most of her life and has enjoyed being active in her church and community. The Cotants live in Tyhee.
